Heart Bloom Press was founded on a simple belief: when children feel safe and understood, learning and growth naturally follow. Inspired by big feelings, quiet breaths, and meaningful moments between children and caring adults, we create stories that do more than entertain. Each book gently supports children through worry, frustration, and fear—offering compassion, practical tools, and shared moments that nurture connection and emotional growth.

We are educators, storytellers, and advocates for children’s emotional well-being. Grounded in education, counseling, and social–emotional learning, our work is shaped by years of supporting children, families, and educators. We believe emotional skills are just as essential as academic ones—and that stories are powerful tools for building them.

Social–Emotional Learning supports healthy brain growth by strengthening the parts of the brain responsible for self-control, focus, and emotional regulation. When children practice calming strategies like breathing or counting, they help their “thinking brain” stay engaged, even during stressful moments. Over time, these repeated experiences build strong neural pathways that support learning and resilience.

SEL helps children understand and manage big feelings in safe, supportive ways. By learning to name emotions and use calming tools, children gain confidence in their ability to cope with stress, frustration, and change. These skills reduce anxiety, build emotional safety, and help children feel more secure in themselves and their world.

When children feel calm and emotionally supported, they are better able to focus, learn, and connect with others. SEL skills encourage empathy, cooperation, and positive communication, which strengthen relationships with peers and caregivers. These abilities support success in the classroom and lay the foundation for healthy relationships throughout life.

At their heart, these books are stories children can enjoy independently. Woven naturally into the narrative are gentle SEL practices—such as noticing feelings, pausing to breathe, and choosing kindness—that children can try on their own. Optional activities invite readers to reflect, imagine, and explore their inner world, empowering them to build confidence and emotional awareness through story, creativity, and play.

Our books are designed to be shared moments of connection. Each story includes optional, easy-to-use resources that help caregivers support children’s emotional growth at home—such as conversation starters, gentle breathing cues, and reflection prompts. These tools encourage meaningful dialogue, help children name big feelings, and offer simple ways to practice calm, courage, and kindness together. No special training is needed—just presence, curiosity, and care.

Alongside each book, we offer educator-friendly resources that align with social–emotional learning practices and classroom needs. These may include read-aloud discussion questions, extension activities, and reflective exercises that support emotional regulation, empathy, and self-awareness. Designed for flexibility, the resources can be used in classrooms, counseling sessions, libraries, or small groups—and the stories themselves stand strong even without the supplemental materials.
